Vaccinations

1. RCCP combo vaccination should be given at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. 
2. Rabies vaccine will be given at 16 weeks and will be good for 1 year. Please make sure if your cat is only getting the Merial 1 year Feline Rabies!! Other vaccines are know to be associated with cancer.
3. Felv will be given at 12 and 16 weeks.If your cat is going to be indoor only, we will stop this vaccine after these two doses.

Fecal Ova and Parasite and Giardia ELISA test: Assume every kitten has worms. Wash hands after handling it. At least one stool sample should be run to check for parasites. We use Profender for deworming kittens. This broad spectrum dewormer only requires a single dose. It is applied to the back of your kittens neck. It covers many parasites, but not all. That is why the stool sample is still important, so we make sure your kitten doesn't have to live with worms.

Year Round Heartworm Prevention- Heartworm (transmitted by mosquitos) is now in the area. It is still a low prevalence compared to other parts of the country, but we are seeing more and more of this deadly disease.  We have seen indoor only cats in Lake Forest contract this parasite, so although still uncommon, your cat does have a small risk of exposure. We recommend all cats be on Revolution. This product covers ear mites, fleas, heartworm and many intestinal parasites.

Spaying/Neutering: We usually spay and neuter cats between 4 and 6 months of age.
